At The Little Red Barn Preschool we know that all children are naturally scientists with their insatiable desire to know why? how? when? where? We try to figure it out together incorporating The Scientific Method. Isn't that a bit too complicated for kids? No! It actually gives them a process in which to solve everyday problems.

READING
At The Little Red Barn Preschool we know that some children are more inquisitive when it comes to letters, words, sentences and books. We do not force it if the desire is not there but if we see a spark in your child's heart when it comes to books we will absolutely feed that spark and light the fire for more. We use File Folder Games, BOB Books and sight word flash cards as tools to help your early reader thrive.
MATH
At The Little Red Barn Preschool we work on Math, daily in some way, shape or form. We count, chant, sing, add, take away and divide. More activities include Calendar: days of the week, today's date, the year in expanded form. Questions are posed and answers are shouted. WE LOVE MATH!
TOUCH MATH
Touch Math is a clever way to get children to recognize their numbers without guessing. The answer is on the numbers themselves. The number one has one dot on it, the number 2 has two dots on it. How many dots tells you what number it is! It's called "touch" math because the child touches the solid dots once and the dots with a red ring around it twice. It requires focus but they WILL get it!
